The 1541 was not fast, but it was generally reliable! And here, using a Vic-20, it is time to test this Commodore relic! Commodore supplied a Test Demo disk witht he 1541 and on it were a number of utility programs including the on called "performance test".

This program is not perfect, but it will give you a pretty accurate indication if the unit you are testing is functional.
