I'm not a Loner. My name is not Kruglov. My task is to infiltrate any Factions that I choose, in order to investigate and seize any of the new prototype weapons and ammunition, that have illegally entered the Zone. I have left the Mercenary Faction to join the Loner Faction. I am the Stalker.

Encrypted Diary: I'm at the Kopachy Village Cemetery, where I picked up three artifacts. I met a three-man Ecologist squad that flushed out that missing Bloodsucker. Two of them disappeared and the one remaining I hired as a Companion. He took off running south through Kopachy Village so fast, he was gone before I realized he was not going to the Mobile Lab to join my other Companions.

When I returned to the Mobile Lab and went inside, I checked my PDA that showed the Ecologist has stopped suddenly in a filed just south of the Checkpoint. I thought he might have been killed so I looked at my PDA listing of all my Companions. I noticed that I had hired all three, but I did not know where his two squad mates were located. I couldn't get a health reading on each of them, so I decided to go to the Ecologist where he had stopped.

To my surprise he was still alive but did not appear to want to obey any commands and I didn't feel like dealing with an uncooperative Companions, so I released him, which in turn released all three. From the nearby hilltop, I spotted a single Loner to the far west, walking on the road from the Container Yard. I left the Ecologist and ran to the Loner, just outside Volkhov, hiring him and bringing him back to the safety of the Mobile Lab. I now had 24 Companions.

* Game Note: This was kind of unusual what happened. Two of the Ecologist squad members had disappeared, and I had hired the third remaining member before he went off-line like his buddies. My PDA showed I had hired all three but only one was on-line. He might have run to the spot where his buddies were stuck off-line. I do not know this behavior, but rarely have I ever hired a squad as half of it went off-line and the other half still with me.

The game suddenly crashed, making it shorter than expected.
