This tutorial video provides some tips and advice on playing Ryze. As you know, Ryze has his OVERLOAD attack on Q. It's a Magic Damage linear colliding skillshot. This spell has quite a long range and a very short cooldown. On W, Ryze has his RUNE PRISON which delivers Magic Damage and traps the enemy. On E, Ryze has the SPELL FLUX. Ryze attacks one enemy but the shot then bounces between other enemy units or Ryze, dealing Magic Damage each time it hits an enemy. The first enemy hit, receives the most Magic Damage. All affected enemies also have their Magic Resistance reduced for a couple of seconds. On R, Ryze has his ultimate spell, the DESPERATE POWER. This spell does two things: First, it is a so called self-buff, that gives Ryze: a) Increased movement speed, and b) Spell Vamp, that regains health based on the damage done to enemies. Secondly, Q, W & E will deal damage to other enemies nearby, a so called Area of Effect. In short, R will enable Q, W & E to affect multiple targets within an area. R's passive gives Ryze cooldown reduction, and increases the duration of Arcane Mastery.

SUMMARY SO FAR: For Q, W & E: The size of this Magic Damage depends on:
* Your in-game level. A level 18 Ryze does more damage compared to a level 1 Ryze.
* How much Ablity Power, AP, you have.
* And how much Mana you have.

Which, in turn, means that items such as Rod of Ages are good for Ryze, since it provides both Ability Power and Mana.

Finally, let's talk about Ryze's Passive, ARCANE MASTERY. In short, it all depends on how many and how often you use Q, W, E and R. Each time Ryze uses these, he gets a stack for 12 seconds. After 5 stacks, he gets a shield for 3, 4, 5 or 6 seconds (levels 1, 6, 11 & 16). In short, Ryze receives a great buff fairly often throughout the game. Keep an eye on your stack, and when you have 4, do a quick attack, tossing everything you have onto the enemy, then move back to safety.
