TKH Plays Rogue Legacy #11 - Upgraded Final Boss: The Brohannes
5All bosses comes in "remixed" variants; upgraded and much harder bossse with similar styles as the first ones. Also, played with a special character. I didn't plan to kill these, but once started I couldn't leave them behind alive!
The road to unlock this fight is actually longer than the fight itself. Before going into the fight itself, here's a few words about how to get there.
When playing the game normally, you will eventually find all the four Obols (from Shrines) to unlock the first four upgraded bosses. You always have to die and give the Obol to Charon to unlock the boss. These can be beaten at any time after the first boss variants are killed. I waited with this until I had finished the game 3-4 times - this was a bad move, but I didn't know about this process before.
Once all four upgraded bosses are killed you have completed the medallion, and you can start the hunt for the final Obol - also found in a Shrine. Since it might take some time to find this last Obol, don't start this hunt in NG+10 or something like that, because it might take some time to find it!
The best way to do this is perhaps to kill the first four upgraded bosses already during your first or second run through the game. You probably have a lot of gold runs anyway, so combine that with the hunt for the last Obol. I don't know if you have to kill Johannes at least one time before you can find the fifth Obol, but in any way... If it's your first run then you probably need to practice your skills before taking on the upgraded bosses :)
My strategy was to:
- Keep both of them on the same side at all time
- Don't push anyone close to a wall, stay in the open
- Don't attack, let them come to you
- Listen for daggers, they can be hard to see
- When they jump towards you, jump and strike them in air
- When walking towards you, it felt easier to strike from air
(Seems like they strike you less often then)
- Beware of their axes, it's hard to anticipate the arc!
- Use only daggers to push them away when they are too close
- Skip your own axes, they are not reliable
Again, I didn't figure out the "dash shield" during fight so I don't know how helpful that ability is or how they react to it.

Khidr - Neo Khidr
Alexander - Alexander the IV
Ponce de Leon - Ponce de Freon
Herodotus - Astrodotus
Johannes - The Brohannes
Once all these are killed you will unlock a new class to play (The Traitor) and you earn an Achievement. However, this is the gog.com version so I won't get any achievements.
