Console gaming the 8 and 16 bit gaming era used to be much more expensive than Computer/PC gaming, in the 32 bit era it flip flopped the other way around. With all the 3Dfx, Virge, Matrox 3D cards and various sound cards and processor upgrades it was hard keeping up with the PC side of things. Consoles used to have pretty long life spans and were supported for years, some even decades.

With the release of the new Playstation Pro, Neo and Slim and the Xbox Scorpio and slim the life span of the consoles seems to have dropped dramatically as the Playstation 4 and XboxOne both have been surpassed by various newer models as mentioned above.

It console gaming a sensible way to go? Or is PC gaming a better choice? I ponder this during this sleep deprived post night shift waffle.
