To The Moon - 4 - DAVID'S MAIN MORPH! River's condition revealed!
Hey friends! Welcome back to another episode of Let's Play To The Moon by freebird games. This game just gets better and better as you play it...
I found out after recording and editing this series that my game is actually glitched or something -- it runs a LOT faster than it's supposed to at certain points (well, the movement speed of the characters at least -- the music was fine). But watching other Let's Plays of To The Moon I noticed the characters don't run nearly as fast.
Particularly the horse scene was horrible because of this... Perhaps it's a conflict with my hardware or OS. I have the Steam release... though I did download it FOREVER ago and maybe there was some bug fix patch that I never received for one reason or another (I hardly ever keep Steam open unless I'm actively using it)
Anyway, TO THE MOON !!! It's great. In this episode we try to look up information about Animorphs and fail. To The Moon and the Animorphs wiki do not agree!!
We also ride around on some horses, and then we see River's diagnosis, which all-but-explicitly reveals her condition to be, indeed, Asperger's Syndrome. The symptoms have been hinted at throughout the game, and earlier Isabelle referred to people without their condition as "neurotypical" (which is a common way to distinguish people who are not on the autism spectrum).
Even now, playing this once, watching it again, and watching other Let's Plays of To The Moon, I don't understand why John refused to read the Attwood book about River's condition.
Also, I think it's interesting (and nice) that they never explicitly state that River has Asperger's. I don't think it's to make it ambiguous as if she could have something else, but I think it's so that the game doesn't seem to be overly political -- the more explicit you are, the more people will believe you have some kind of political agenda. It's a sad truth about our culture, honestly.

They also have the To The Moon soundtrack there, which you can buy and 50% proceeds go to charity, so check that out! It's well worth it!
