Very brief look, of Astroport's WOLFLAME. Astroport is a pretty amazing doujin studio all things considered. While they don't have any games that are bonafide classics, and they tend to reuse don't if their assets across titles (moreover most of their titles have a similar aesthetic which though charming comes off a bit simplistic/vanilla) they have churned out a healthy number of genuinely solid arcade style shoot 'em ups and run and guns. Better yet or much all of their output is available on steam for very good prices (I don't believe any of their titles exceeds 6$).

This is probably one of their must derivative games, but also one of the best. A bonafide Raiden Clone, the game plays out in a very similar fashion. Sniper tanks litter the levels waiting for you to make a mistake. It also had the color changing three weapon system. WOLFLAME does however add a wrinkle to the formula and let you carry two weaponsw at once, one on each side of your ship. You can mix and match them in any combination which leads to plenty if potential for players to experiment and find what's best for them. Deaths result in a checkpoint but there are Carrier ships that will drop an ice t containing all your powerups so you have a chance at an instant recovery.
