Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE (2016, Nintendo Wii U) Gameplay Footage
I remember when the word first came out about a “Fire Emblem x Persona x Atlus game” coming to the Nintendo Wii U people were understandably excited. The Wii U definitely needed any support at that time. But as more and more details came out about the game people got less and less excited and eventually it crossed over toward disappointment. What came out was not really what people wanted I guess. It was kind of a Persona-type game where the Personas were Fire Emblem characters with that “Atlus” flair but also a Pop Idol simulation? What a strange mishmash of gaming genre types but regardless… I really wanted to play it. When I was able to secure a copy it immediately went into my backlog because I felt any Wii U games I wanted to play, I better get them while I could since the system did so poorly I knew games may get hard to find later. As a recent Nintendo Wii U game collecting spree ended I found myself finally taking the time to pull this game from my backlog and I must admit, they were doing some interesting things within the turn based combat and seeing the Fire Emblem Personas made me squee in joy. I think I can stomach the Pop Idol stuff because all the rest I enjoy and to be honest, the full package is pretty good.
