Tokyo Xanadu eX+: Chapter 4 Final Dungeon - Apocalypse Difficulty Mod (W.I.P) [No Items]
Gameplay footage of the last Dungeon on Chapter 4, with the difficulty/rebalance mod Apocalypse!
This mod is is a work in progress, and it is NOT mine. It’s an early build so, some stuff may change.
All I am doing is showing the gameplay itself- to the best of my ability, anyway (It’s quite tough!).
This mod/difficulty is pretty much how I imagine a group of teens (Okay, plus Gorou) going aganist other dimensional monsters would ACTUALLY be like.
So, my favorite part of this mod is the dungeons, and I also think the changes affect them more than the bosses. It actually makes the dungeons themselves pretty deadly; you have to actually be careful with the enemies now.
This wasn’t the case even with the vanilla Calamity No Gear run I did a while ago, it feels so good to have actually threating dungeons! Especially early game- So I decided to show how they are like.
As for WHAT exactly this mod does... well, there’s a fair amount of changes, but I think the most noticeable ones- and a huge deal- are the overwork in the mechanics themselves.
Probably the first thing you noticed is the lack of a 2nd EX Skill Orb.
That’s gone till the Intermission Chapter- you only have 1 EX Skill Orb at first!
Then it gets increased to 2 at Intermission. That’s all- no 2nd X-Strike slot! Which isn’t really needed because, honestly, if you finished the game you already probably know 2 X-Strike slots was overkill (Except possibly for True Last Boss, but uh that’s another discussion altogether...)
All meters got their respective gain rate nerfed a bit.
So X-Drive, X-Strikes and EX Skills all fill a tad slower than Vanilla.
SP Regen rate is also a lot slower than normal. However, your attacks make it refill faster as well- this encourages agressive playstyle which I more than approve. SP management DOES matter now.
Some Elements got reworked as well. Most notably Rakuyou was changed to an all stat buff core now. And I mean; anyone who has actually bothered to learn the Vanilla game knows damn well how OP that thing was so, it makes sense.
In Vanilla, getting hit while doing a Power Attack reduced incoming damage. This value has been decreased a tad; in other words, it will actually hurt if you get hit while doing a Power Attack now (Mind you, it still protects you, just not quite as much).
Shio is the only character that retains the Vanilla value- fitting with his Tank playstyle!
...And probably more I may be forgetting about. Also, enemies get some stats changed as well.
All in all, the mod is in a pretty good shape as it is.
I mean it when I say it made the dungeons so much more fun! Bosses are cool too. But as already stated, it is a work in progress- let’s give it the mod the time it needs and not rush things!
