Expanding a board game is often a pretty good thing - we can get more of the things that we enjoy about the base while simultaneously fixing/reducing what's frustrating or doesn't work. That said, there's ALWAYS cases where expansions are unwarranted and/or just simply nonsensical. Why bother expanding a game that's already good? Why add more mechanics when they aren't needed?
