▼ Questions & Answers ▼
Q) Why did you go from DSLR down to Handycam? Seems like a step backwards.
A) The Sony cameras are image stabilized, light weight and have huge recording time while supporting HDMI output, single continuous clip and external audio hardware. This makes them a gem to work with when I want to change up camera angles, hand hold b-roll shots, etc. The slight loss in video quality was worth it to gain so much freedom to move and tell my story better.
Q) What would be a cheaper camera to start with?
A) Honestly for me I wouldn't go any lower then this because you would lose the image stabilization or 4k which are both huge helps to production. Some people don't upload 4k video yet but trust me when I say this is going to be the future and you would not be wise to upload 1080p.
Q) What if I want to shoot 1080p?
A) That is fine, but make sure you render at 4k and upscale because YouTube is going to favor 4k content in the future.
Q) The hardware you recommend is too expensive, you can do just fine with cheaper hardware.
A) This video isn't about what hardware you can do an okay job with. This is about what equipment you should have if you're serious about YouTube and want to build a huge following.
