Top Gun Playthrough (NES)
1One of the more infamous licensed games to come out of the 8-bit era and one of my very first NES games as well so I'm rather well acquainted with this game. While no doubt not the best licensed game (I'd give that honor to Batman) on the NES, I wouldn't give it the dishonor as the worst either (that would go to either Ghostbusters or Predator). Top Gun was one of the first games I ever got on NES (can see why since they're cheap and easy to come by). I've never disliked the game, quite the opposite in fact, but I don't love it so much nowadays either. Its just kinda there. I also don't find landing the plane to be the hardest thing in the world either...once you know what to do on how to control the speed and altitude using the A & B buttons. Honestly I find the hit detection with shooting down missiles to be far worse...hence why I die a couple times. Overall, its certainly alright for an earlier NES game but there are better licensed games out there and better flying simulator games too. But if there's a cheap one lying around for $5 I'd grab it since they are very easy to find.
