Besides the stats shown at 0:14 in the video, there are no set criteria for being drafted at no. 1 other than dominating a lower league. This only appeared at my second attempt with my maxxed out created Pro, who dominated the NEAFL and then the VFL respectively, but only earning the no. 1 pick with the latter. So there would appear to be an element of luck involved as well.
