Battlefield 2042 is a first-person shooter video game that will be released by Electronic Arts and developed by DICE. It is the seventeenth instalment in the Battlefield series and the sequel to Battlefield V, which was released in 2018. On November 19, 2021, the game will be released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X and Series S. Unlike previous Battlefield games, Battlefield 2042 will be purely multiplayer, with no single-player storey, and will be the first in the series to feature cross-platform play. Battlefield 2042 will offer cross-platform play for the first time in the series, with the PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S versions, while the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions will be limited to only those playing on the aforementioned platforms.
Battlefield 2042 is a multiplayer-focused first-person shooter, similar to its predecessors. Because the game is set in the near future, futuristic weapons and devices like as deployable turrets and drones, as well as vehicles that players can commandeer, are included. Players can now request an airdrop of their vehicle to any place. In addition, the game features a new "Plus" system that allows players to personalise their weapons on the fly. The class system was completely revamped. Players can take control of a specialist from one of the four Battlefield gaming classes: Assault, Engineer, Medic, or Recon. There are three main gameplay modes in the game. "Breakthrough" and "Conquest," two of the series' most popular modes, are included in "All-Out Warfare." Two teams compete in Conquest to take control points; once a sector's control points are acquired, the team obtains control of that sector. In Breakthrough, one side must attempt to acquire the control points of the other team, while the opposing team must protect them. The PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X and Series S versions of the game support 128 players, but the PS4 and Xbox One editions only support 64. Hazard Zone, a cooperative multiplayer mode, and Battlefield Portal, a community-driven platform, are among the game's other modes. Portal lets users construct their own multiplayer modes and includes maps from previous Battlefield games. In addition, through a web-based scripting engine, gamers will be able to change basic gameplay components including health, weapon loadouts, and movement.
