Total War three kingdoms Abusing the ambush

Total War Rotk tips.
My ideal retinue composition would be: use cheap units like Militia when you're new.
Commanders (with fire arrows skill) – 3x archers plus either 3x melee infantry or 3x melee cavalry
Sentinels (with fire arrows skill) – 3x archers plus 3x melee infantry; alternatively, have 4x infantry and 2x archers
Strategists (with fire arrows and flaming shot skills) – 5x archers plus 1x trebuchet
Vanguards – 3x shock cavalry plus 3x spearmen; alternatively, just field 3x shock cavalry and 3x melee cavalry if your faction has a lot of discounts
Champions (with spearmen armor skill) – 6x spearmen
When you play the game for the first time, you'll see a lot of icons on your screen. Stay positive and take a moment to know each icons.
My favorite icon is on the bottom right. Click on it for quick access to Commanderies. This is your food and gold generators. I always try to get public order / happiness (green heads) to 100 by demoting a city with large population because more people eat up more food. Build temple to boost Public option.
*Note: Go in pair, 2 large army using ambush and a third single General with 2 low lvl units as bait. You can put ambush army first and the bait close behind.
Just make sure backup is nearby for a joint attack.
Recall all your army to save money once you conquered / dealt with an on coming threats. Try make peace with your enemy and focus somewhere else. You can't challenge everyone at once.
Don't put retainer with high level troop to work in court. If they die from old age, their troops will be lost forever. It's better to fight till they goes to Valhalla and pass on their veterans troop to it neve successor.
Click on a unit and you'll see their bubble, that's how far they can run or reinforce friendly unit for joint attack.
Use the siege / starve option to delay attacking a city, this let you send in additional units to reinforce the attacker, make sure you send them inside the attacker bubble.
Click on the siege icon when attacking a city to pull up more options. Use only militia units to save gold at the beginning of the game.
Use Delegate for auto battle. This save you plenty time.
Get your economy and food supplies up first. Army cost money and food.
Hover the red numbers on the cities tab on the bottom right corner to see what need to be fixed. Same goes for generals in your army. For the cities, it's most likely overpopulation. Demote a city with high population because they eat up more food. Build farm to generate food, buildings that boost food. Don't let a city with -15 food. Assign generals with food boost helps. Build temple to boost public option, build farm to balance food deficit in commerce city.
Follow the white road to save AP in case you got lost.
*Jump into the water to cross over other side is a lot faster instead of going around.
*Beware: Your armies use AP to move. Don't depleted it. The result are fatal because you won't able to reinforce nor retreat. Use half move AP near enemy and have a partner close by.
Loyalty is the happy face under a character profile, hover over it to see. They'll leave you if it reached 0. Make sure to equip items that boost theirs satisfaction.
You can recruit new candidates by checking the court on the top left with the 3 heads. Double clicks to recruit them after hovering over their avater on the top right call "Candidates". Recruit them all because old ages will killed your heroes/retainers eventually.
Character stats: right click to open at bottom left picture.
Instinct is melee damage. The higher the better for fighters.
Cunning is ammunition for strategists with archers.
Resolve is total health.
Expertise is melee evasion and cheaper construction.
Be sure to explore other icons as well.
*How to rise public order
Assignments (there's at least one that can give a plus 15 public order bonus), some administrators, puting an army in the city and reforms can all help. But public order buildings are best way. The best optimal public order is stick with large city, build temple, build grain silo and conscription office to reduce 4k population.
Assign at the Court on the last row to help with +10 public order on certain general. Make sure you click on the city that need to be assigned to.
Alternativly, there is the option if downgrading the city. Lower level city means smaller max pop means less public order issues.
Yeah dude. What Slayen2k said. Increasing your city size always makes the Public Order go down even faster. This is why it’s a popular choice to make your 4th building slot a Public Order giving building like a temple or something.
