You need to be extremely careful around this stage. Similar to the last one, enemies fire much more complex patterns and coupled with their durability can make them quite deadly if left to their own devices. On top of that, some enemy groups can fire some particularly nasty bullet patters that can trap you if you dodge them the wrong way.

Mayumi, like the rest of the mid-bosses functions like a warm-up to the non-spells she’ll be firing off later. Here it’s basically getting used to her arrow danmaku and the tight gaps between them. The hidden spirit’s also easy to get, it just takes a little set-up. So long as 4 spirits are bouncing on the field when you beat her you’ll get the hidden spirit.

Because of the nature of this game, I feel Mayumi can be both one of the hardest and one of the easiest Stage 5 bosses I’ve ever fought. She’s akin to Alice in a way in that she keeps summoning enemies that’ll shoot at you in various ways (though Mayumi’s are fewer but much more durable). As such, if fought normally and left to their own devices it’s very easy to get overrun. However with the Berserk Roaring mode and the power boost you get from it, if you time it right you can absolutely trivialize her hardest spells at no cost.
