Touhou Danmakufu - Orin Script (by Lunarethic)
A sweet script featuring Orin, but it's not out without its flaws.
Just like Lunarethic's previous script, the patterns are fine and very creative, and specially very Orin-like. Maybe the fourth spell was just too much, but the rest is fine. The problems come, once again, from the gameplay itself.
The HP is completly out of the place in here. Orin can range from having a ridiculous amount of HP to having none whatsoever. Just compare her first non with her one-to-last spell. Give the HP some consistency, I was already playing with a player that does more damage than usual and look how much it took to end some attacks. And then the one-to-last spell, which I don't know if that's intentional or what. I mean, it ended in seconds.
This was one of my two biggest problems, the second one being the bullet spawn mechanics. Look, you did a good job recreating Orin. She uses these spiral patterns that spawn very close to you, or literally on top of you. But look what ZUN does in SA when one of these patterns spawn on top of you: a little circle around you without bullets. And actually, in my opinion, the circle without bullets from SA is too big, a little smaller and that would also be fine. I don't know how can this be programmed on Danmakufu (or if it's even possible, but I guess it is), but dying because a bullet spawned on top of me were 60% of my deaths while playing this script, specially on the third spell, one to last spell and last non. Just like bullets that come from out of the screen, bullets that spawn on top of you is something that should be fixed. ZUN fixed this problem by making the SA circle, and in RSS, in the final boss survival (and a few other spells) the point where the bullets were going to spawn made a little glow one second before appearing. That's also a good solution to this problem, and I'm sure there are plenty more.
The fourth spell is a bit too much, mainly because the hitboxes aren't very good and the spirits' bullets are practically invisible while there are purple glowing bullets on screen.
That's all. It was a good script, but I ended up annoyed by the HP and the bullet spawn location.
