Hidden Star in Four Seasons is a shmup by ZUN and Team Shanghai Alice in 2017, which is the 21st entry of Touhou in the windows era and the 16th main game overall in the Touhou franchise.
The game offers 4 different seasonal weapon variants that can affect the weaponry of a character. Extra has it`s own unique seasonal weapon.
One of the unique mechanics in this game is the Release system, in which a small blast can cause big damage to enemies, attract items with ease and cancel bullets to increase the value of the point items. However, it does not grant i-frames.
To fill up the Release gauge, Release items must be collected, and the way to get Release items are destroying enemies and grazing.
Using Release on boss spellcards do not invalidate in trying to get a "Get spellcard bonus".
