This entry isn`t half bad! I kinda liked it!
Wily Beast and Weakest Creature is a shmup by ZUN and Team Shanghai Alice in 2019.
Most patterns are a little more gentle compared to other Touhou shmups.
You have 3 animal spirit goasts:
-Ookami: Enhanced focus shots.
-Kawauso: Enhanced bomb power.
-Washi: Enhanced unfocus shots.
The main mechanic is the spirit system. Killing certain enemies will drop beast spirits, which cycle between ookami, kawauso and washi. When you`re near a beast spirit, they won`t be able to change until collected. There`s also bomb spirits and heart spirits. Collecting at least five items will trigger roaring mode (inspired by PCB`s supernatural border). If you get hit or press bomb button while in roaring mode, you`ll trigger a beastly blast.
When roaring mode ends, some extra items and beast spirits will appear.
Now here`s what happens when you trigger roaring mode with 3 same beast spirits:
-Ookami: Triggers a hyper shot that cannot alternate it`s firing type on unfocus and focus.
-Kawauso: Triggers an orbiting shield.
-Washi: Unfocused shot will be improved (and shot even whilst focused).
Triggering such a berserk roaring mode which matches your shot type and/or with more than three beast Items will elongate its duration.
If bomb and heart spirits are collected while on roaring mode, bomb and heart parts will instantly spawn.
