Touhou Labyrinth 2 Any% in 9:55:00 (Segmented) (Stratum 4)
2THIS SPEEDRUN IS SEGMENTED!!
Meaning segments were recorded separately and will be presented together as a finished run. This is not meant to be compared to a single segment run and exists only as a proof of concept for the route.
I chose to do this first run segmented because of how lengthy it is, and segmenting it allows me to play a bit of it every day and take notes on what can be improved on future runs. Not to mention I have work and need to sleep too.
Timer starts when selecting New Game and ends on the fade to black after the results screen in the 20F regular final boss. For the purposes of this segmented run, time was paused after the "Game was saved" message appears on screen, and is resumed when selecting the save file on the title screen.
I go out of my way to collect treasures since it will allow me to get the "Open 256 chests" achievement by the endgame, which gives you 50k money that is VERY necessary to beat the game underlevelled. I also grind a bit on each floor to make sure I level up naturally and use the exp bonuses that come from just battling while exploring the map.
This video covers the fourth stratum, where the trash is tougher than the boss fights. Things are weak to CLD and NTR so Nitori shines here as a prime trash killer, along with Kasen and Chen for support damage. We also see here the amazing power of Iku, with her MND ignoring skills and Monk subclass area attack she can 2hit pretty much any trash monster.
The 10F FOE is easily dealt with by keeping it permanently PAR with Kasen. Sakuya is not fully immune to DTH so Komachi easily dispathces her thanks to Reisen's Intense Vertigo assist. Remilia is easily manageable since she just spams regular attacks and Spear the Gungnir, both easily tankable by Nitori.
The Mirror and Magatama boss fights are cheesed with the same DTH strat used for Sakuya. The Tenshi fights uses pretty much the exact same strat from 9F, but you use Iku's regular Sorcerer attack instead since she no longer resists MYS, and we again exploit her AI to spam Sword of Hisou on a beefy Nitori.
