The Greatest Touhou Fangame Ever.

Real talk, despite the extremely silly nature of this game, NEF is still an enjoyable game. Apparently, this game was made to celebrate Shuzo Matsuoka's 43rd birthday back in 2011, a professional tennis player/sports commentator who was often remixed in Japanese MAD videos on Nico Nico Douga (read up on the Know Your Meme page for more info).

I decided to actually use the E.Shot (the main mechanic) this run... mostly because this is the only way you can get 1ups, I didn't feel like playing with only 2 lives for the whole run (and there's another reason which I'll get to later). You build the meter up in the bottom left by grazing and picking up the red flame items, when it's at least 30%, you can press C to unleash a super shot which cancels bullets and deals big damage. Hitting bullets with your E.Shot will cancel and convert them into green items for bombs, while hitting enemies with your E.Shot will generate pink items which give you 1ups. This mechanic is ridiculously powerful, allowing you to trivialize patterns and generate a lot of lives on bosses by stalling, it's quite fun stuff. When you reach 100% on the gauge, you'll enter Super Burning Mode which locks you into unfocused mode, this is the other reason why I decided to actually use the system for this run lol. Very very VERY easy run to pull off, this was only my 2nd playthrough and I didn't even use practice mode lol.

its also a miracle that i got no slowdown until i got minimal amounts while eshotting on the final normal spell in the game apparently people go down to 20 fps in like stage 3 and it stays like that thru the rest of the game, danmakufu moment
