Touhou: Phantasmagoria Trues | All Zones, No-Bomb No-Hyper 1cc 【幻想浪漫紀行】
Potentially the greatest Touhou fangame ever made. I couldn't find any No-Bomb runs out there, so I went and performed all these runs in one sitting so I could change that. Played on version 1.2 which is the most recent build.
PT is a part of something I like to call the "holy trinity" of Touhou STG fangames, alongside Magical Singular Day and Scarlet Night. Coincidentally, all 3 of these games were created using Danmakufu 0.12m and feature some sort of hyper system. There are 3 main modes (Standard, Advanced, and Unlimited) which are less like difficulties and more like Arrange modes. The first 2 Zones contain alternate stages called Unseen Areas, which I also cover in this video. I believe the dev named the modes "Zones" to prevent the assumption that these modes scale in difficulty. Each zone contains different stage portions and boss patterns with some characters straight up being different depending on the difficulty (e.g. Suika in Area 5 is replaced by Eiki in Unlimited Zone). Terminus is this game's version of an Extra stage and it's quite brutal.
Standard Zone does not have the Hyper system implemented, but I made sure to avoid using it in the other Zones. I generally consider Unlimited Zone to be one of the easier clears in this game, but removing the Hyper system makes it one of the harder ones. A No-Bomb No-Hyper run is sorta like LoLK LNB, where many sections are very difficult but overall feels quite chill thanks to the number of lives you can gain. I tried to keep my r.E.D. gauge (this game's version of a rank system) relatively high for the most part to make things more interesting. However, that is not always possible, especially on non-Standard Zones where you can accidentally trigger a Hyper from collecting too many gold items. For No-Bomb runs, you're also forced to go through Unseen 1 no matter what as the skip requires you to use at least 2 bombs during the early-game bosses. I probably could've routed some graze cancels (triggered at every 200 graze) to save myself in tough stage portions, but I couldn't be bothered.
Unlimited Zone has a True Last Boss which you can trigger by obtaining 900,000 BASE before defeating Shinki's final attack, this is not possible to do in a No-Hyper run as far as I'm aware.
No-Bomb difficulty from easiest to hardest: SNB, ANBNH, AUNBNH, UNBNH, SUNB, and TNBNH (unsure about these last 2).
