This is my 156th attempt and first successful clearance of Perfect Cherry Blossom's Phantasm level.\n\nI first discovered Touhou late August 2008, while looking for freeware games to fill my channel with. I stumbled upon Shoot The Core, a website chronicling shooters. Intrigued, I downloaded a few, until I happened upon the Touhou section. I had heard of Touhou and knew it was supposed to be hard, but hadn't explored it any further than that. Choosing one of the titles at random, I clicked to download Perfect Cherry Blossom, believing it to be freeware.\n\nI didn't know much about bullet hell shooters. The closest I'd come to playing one was Ikaruga, which I adored, but wasn't really bullet hell. Nonetheless I managed to get up to and defeat Alice, who I believed to be the final boss at the time. Finding the difficult gameplay refreshing, I decided to look into the game further. Looking up Perfect Cherry Blossom on youtube, a level appeared I hadn't seen before, titled Phantasm. Curious, I clicked... and fell in love.\n\nThe music! The ridiculous attacks, the pace- everything was so incredibly epic. I knew- right then- I was going to do it some day. I looked around trying to find how to unlock it, and discovered it was only in the full version. \n\nAs a rule, I dislike downloading titles that can be bought, so until the date came that I could purchase the full copy, I got further and further into the fandom, learning about all the characters, the stories, and of course the fantastic music. All of this with a fanboy focus on Yukari herself :P\n\nThe other titles in the series were of great interest to me too, but PCB still held something special, and I still wouldn't be satisfied until I had beaten Phantasm. SO when my brother bought me PCB for Christmas, I set to work straight away.\n\nIt's taken me four months of trying, but here we are. Finally, I have achieved what I set out to do so long ago. And it feels AMAZING. \n\nI hope these videos are proof to anyone else trying to beat Yukari for the first time- it IS possible, even if you aren't a robot. You just have to keep at it.
