Touhou Project 8, Imperishable Night (Normal) - Stage 6 - Final / Kaguya Houraisan
Final Stage; Introducing Kaguya Houraisan and Eirin Yagokoro, The Sinner of the Eternal and Instantaneous and The Brain of the Moon
(Yeah, I screw up both Imperishable Night's spellcards of Kaguya =I)
After defeating Reisen, a path to Kaguya is located and the Final Stage commences. To get Kaguya as Final Boss, you have to beat the game at least once before ( where Eirin is the last boss and not a mid-stage boss (same happens if you use a continue)).
Kaguya is the princess of the Moon but was exiled to earth after drinking the Hourai Elixir, a potion which makes the person drinking it immortal. So far only Eirin was able to make this Elixir and was exiled along with Kaguya. Together they set up at the bemboo forest in Eientei where they enjoy their lives.
Mokou too came in contact with the Hourai Elixir because Kaguya was luring all men in her reach to her and gave them impossible request (finding sacred buddhist artifacts all over the world). No man was able to complete that quest and even Kaguyas father died trying. They never knew that those objects were in Kaguya's posession all along. Trying to avange her father, Mokou stole some of the Hourai Elixir and became immortal herself in an eternal conflict with Kaguya.
As for Eirin, she is a well known medic and chemist on the moon as well as in her new home. She took Reisen as apprentice after she fled from the moon and is teaching her medical treatments aswell as knowledge about various potions and poisons.
She choose to rathe rstay on earth with her friend Kaguya than returning to the Moon, thus becoming part of the Eientei inhabitants.
The mid-boss fight against Eirin isn't really amazing, her final boss fight is more. She uses round, surrounding patterns and shoots at you with her bow, giving you little space to move or dodge. Also her spellcards are medical/lunar themed, making her origins more clear.
The fight against Kaguya is one of the most impressive last-boss fights in Touhou. All of her attacks/spellcards are related to the impossible requests she gave to others and yet feature very buddhist symbols. She fires large amounts of bullets, giving you a hard time to see empty spaces to dodge.
After defeating Kaguya, the real moon is restored and the night is normal again, but Kaguya asks the heroines a favor...to search for Mokou in the same night...
