Stage Story Summary:
B: "Once I finish the spell, all the time will stop, and then start flowing in reverse.
That reverse flow will undo over a century of history.
Once it reaches the point just before Gensokyo was separated it will start flowing normally again as if nothing had happened.
The humans in the outside world now have weapons that can destroy not only Gensokyo, but the whole world.
This is beyond any hope already...
Which is why I'm going back and redoing everything!"
R: That perfect world of yours can't even be called Gensokyo. The one who tries to destroy Gensokyo right now isn't the people from the outside world, it's you!"
B: "The tomorrow of Gensokyo will be redone!"
R: "The tomorrow of Gensokyo will not be tampered with!"

Well, I didn't expect this final boss! Her first spell is far too tight for me, but otherwise, this is a super fun final boss. Starting with her second spell, she starts recalling the themes of the official touhou games in backwards order, which is kinda cool considering the final fight of Concealed the Conclusion.

Plot:
It's a cold winter and everyone is feeling sluggish, so Reimu heads off to warm up at the hot springs... but the sluggishness and cold are not caused by the winter. They were the result of air stagnation because of abnormal weather over the last week. And that abnormal weather was not natural, it was merely a minor side effect of a powerful magic spell!
The Alternative Age is the first Touhou fan game by the creator of Concealed the Conclusion, danmaq. I had never looked at this game until I had finished replaying CtC for my channel this year, but I was aware of it pretty much since I became a Touhou fan. The only things knew about the game before playing it finally were that the art is terrible (which I disagree with. It's actually pretty cute, in my opinion) and the identity of the Stage 4 boss, although I always thought she was the final boss.
After playing the game, I can definitely see that this is by the same creator as CtC. The soundtrack is quite amazing and creates a wonderful atmosphere, which when combined with the stage backgrounds gives the game a very EoSD/PCB era feel. The choice of characters is interesting as well, and the bullet patterns are unique to say the least, although sometimes a bit frustrating. On Normal difficulty the game is all in all harder than CtC, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
