Toukiden 2 ~ Grapple Mechanic & Multiple Choices
READ DESCRIPTION:
Content Provided by Yurei . . .
The grapple mechanic is but one of a few new additions to gameplay in the F2P version of Toukiden 2. It allows your character to not only grapple to enemies, and follow up with a light or heavy attack, but also lets you grapple to things in the environment in order to evade or get to harder to reach areas/items.
As far as character interactions, and conversations go you will be given up to several response choices that vary from questions to answers. Each of which will effect the NPC's (Non-Player Character) response to your chosen reply. In this video Yurei chose all top responses, and though it is in Japanese text I could tell through the NPC voice overs, and character art/models that they reacted accordingly.
Other mechanics you did not get to see in this video include an evasive run that can be done by pressing in "L3". This is good for evading the more heavy mobs of Yokai that will often pursue you as you go about your missions.
Speaking of missions ... Unlike the sectioned off missions of the original Toukiden this game offers more of an open world environment. Thus making it more of a proper RPG in terms that we usually think of the genre. Yurei will be sharing more footage of this as she continues to play.
I know you're probably curious about the F2P aspect of the game, and it seems that this may be a glorified demo according to an update from Yurei. She's made it past the first 4 hired missions which you can seemingly grind, and has partook of the weapon tutorials. The game as she says it may not expand past that. To be noted she also said there are gated off areas in-game that have pop-up dates when approached. If it is a demo it seems to be one to get gamers thoroughly invested in what the game has to offer. meaning sales may not have been as impressive as desired by KT.
