A very enjoyable session spent at Doncaster on the East Coast Mainline where we see plenty of services from London Northeastern Railway, Grand Central, Northern, Transpennine Express and freight from Freightliner, DB Cargo UK and Colas Rail.

Doncaster Station was constructed in 1849, there was a station at this site a year earlier but it was more of a tempory station in the grand scheme of things.

The station itself hasn't really changed, it went through a period of being rebuilt and finally finished in 1938. Since then the station hasn't changed all that much, the only real change has come when the frenchgate shopping centre was connected to the station. The newest addition to the station family comes in the form of the new platform. This was to be known as platform 0, this platform is only used by terminating Northern services from Hull, Beverley, Bridlington and Scarborough. This was done to release some space in the main station for Cross Country services and London Northeastern Services to avoid delays.

My next station is York.
