Install Node.js (includes NPM): https://nodejs.org/en/download/
Note that for all of the commands to work properly, they need to be on your application path. Changing this depends on the operating system, but you can find very good information online.
The commands I used:
dvisvgm --no-fonts --scale=10 --exact -p1 my-equation.dvi
svgexport my-equation.svg example-output.png
I put both commands on one line to run them in sequence.

It seems like I got sidetracked in the Resolve bit at the end, but that was actually planned. If you aren’t interested, just stop watching, I don’t mind.
