Also known as Kagero 2: Dark Illusion but it’s only very vaguely a sequel to Deception 2.
Please note that this is segmented and edited. As this is PCSX2, expect issues. I am using the HD remaster texture pack produced by Panda Venom. I am not here to provide tech support, don’t bother asking because I will just delete your comments.
Notes
As usual, the game has multiple endings but there are only 2 real choices to make during this game and only one route. Thus, I didn’t do multiple playthroughs. There are two sets of side stories, which are simply bonus stages with some story fluff (meaning it’s pointless) you can play for additional resources. In the first playthrough, you can only play the first set. Again, it's pointless.
Choosing to flee in chapter 10 is not a real ending in that the game doesn’t list it as one and you don’t unlock anything for getting it, but it does end a playthrough if you do. That said, story wise, it is clearly the best choice considering.
This game features a type of trap called Dark Illusions. These are especially powerful pre-placed traps that have specific requirements for their activation and they can only be activated once per round. They award currency equivalent to killing 2-10(!) targets per activation, depending on your combos, thus the best way to play is to activate them at every opportunity, even though watching the cutscene over and over again isn’t exactly ideal. You can’t skip it. This did wear on me, especially during the old castle section. I can’t activate the illusion in the basement stairs area with the traps I have, you need a trap that can hit the ceiling to dislodge the head, such as earthquake or hellfire. I assume you can’t use rising floor since it’d have to be placed directly below it.
The single best trap this time around is the vacuum floor given almost no enemy in the game can resist it. It’s basically a bear trap plus.
Her name is clearly Alicia, why change it to Allura? Translators, man.
