A treat for all you good little boys and girls, a delightful little meta-narrative on the nature of storytelling that I recall from my school days. While I might not be the best person to relate this story (trust me, I do NOT require being told that my particular voice suits neither women nor children particularly well, I know), as a writer myself I confess a fondness for the way it explores the elements that make for a good story: knowing your audience, vivid descriptions, thinking the narrative through and allowing questions as necessary, being able to improvise at a moment's notice, clever and effective wordplay, and willingness to subvert expectations to make the tale stick in the audience's mind. In your storytelling affairs, be like the bachelor here and you will not find success outside the realm of possibility...
