TROVE - The Hitchhiker's Guide To Boredom
3If I was to be a hero here, i'd rather stay in the tavern. Right, so its another MMORPG that has been deep inside my library in forever. Surprise surprise huh? I had gotten "free" mmos way back on ps4 in between purchases to see what was offered. TROVE goes back to July 2015 on PC, PS4/Xbox getting a December 2016 beta release, 2017 full release and switch getting a 2021 port, with developer being Trion Worlds and later being taken over by Gamigo.
TROVE? Its story is rather complicated, but, Centuries ago, the Sun Goddess brings out everyone to a time for oldness, when suddenly, the Moon Goddess and her Shadow Army attacks the crowd. To cast off the darkness, the Sun Goddess shatters the realms with a great life force. But still, the Shadows remain, and only the true heroes can fend them off, starting with the player themself.
A straightforward RPG game, there is 18 different classes to play as and I went with your average swordsman since it is the most "balanced" of these classes. Quests? yes its the basic stuff as you hunt monsters and mine for stuff, where TROVE uses a balance of not just combat but also crafting/gathering, there's mounts, there's dungeons and there is also "The Collection" will holds a TRULY diverse amount of customization for your character, weapons etc but I feel.. TROVE is a game stuck in the lower tier of where it offers too much of a good thing and its overall gameplay is the rinse and repeat with no really standout stuff.
