I have never done a birthday event like this. I feel like it makes people feel obligated to donate money as a birthday present. I decided to get around this by making it a charity event, so anything you wanna give will go to a good cause instead!
The charity I chose is ALS research. You might remember it from the "Ice Bucket Challenge". ALS is a type of motor neuron disease. It causes the muscles to weaken, start to twitch, and waste away. Eventually, the brain loses its ability to initiate and control voluntary movements. There is no cure or proper treatment.
Someone I know personally has been affected by this disease, so I wanted to do my part. For them and anyone else suffering from it.
