Tuesday Night Making - Kicking Off Ne'er Do Nebula
0Another Tuesday Night Making stream wherein I made some Mario for an hour and change! A nice short stream for once, you know? Well, except that I've done it two weeks in a row, don't plan on it being a regular thing though quite yet.
Last week I did a bunch of brainstorming for "Koopaverse 4: Abyssal Asteroid" and wouldn't you know it, that level is done now. It came together really fast after last week's Tuesday one segment at a time and went up over the weekend. Here's the code if you want to give it a try! It's a hybrid underwater/low gravity level where you'll have to dodge hammers and more if you want to get through. Easier than it sounds though! I start the stream this week by showing off the full level and talking a little bit about some of the design involved. G7D-SMQ-87G
After I got into the meat of things, kicking off development of "Koopaverse 5: Ne'er-Do Nebula". The way I'm thinking about this, the level is a big climactic showdown with Bowser. In a DKC game this would be the first K. Rool fight. A climax in and of itself, but you still have the bonus world in front of you. Coincidentally, my bonus world is called Bonus Biome. The plans are to have half the level be straight up platforming, and the later half be a big boss battle with Bowser inspired by the first K Roolenstein fight in DKC3. During this stream I start trying to come up with good ideas for that with mixed results. This is early in the process, I'm sure things will come together in time.
Oh, I also did a few Viewer Levels Lightning Round Style at the end. I will say, this whole format is currently an experiment, perhaps the one thing I've learned these two weeks about the format is 2 viewer levels are a little anticlimactic. Maybe we aught to allow for more from each person if there's not more than like 5 in the queue. The two levels this stream were good though, for what it's worth!
