Written for the 16K Spectrum in fast-action machine code, this is a top-down maze style game where the player has to drive around a randomly-generated maze painting it cyan while avoiding the enemy cars. Various items appear randomly from time to time and may be collected to give bonuses - although some, such as the speed cameras should be avoided as hazards! The fire button can be used in an emergency to rearrange the maze as you are driving but use this feature sparingly as you'll have to re-paint some areas if you use it.
Your fuel level is falling all of the time so you have to complete the levels within a certain time. At the end of each level there is a minigame where you can win an extra life.
There is 5 different minigames:
- Match the symbol (remember the place of the symbols)
- Stop three trophy symbols (hit fire button when the trophy is there)
- Beat the red car (racing in the best left/right Decathlon style)
- Follow the leader (remember the right order of the flashing cars)
- Stop lights on green (hit fire button at the green light)
This is a very good arcade action game for the ZX Spectrum 16k, there is plenty to watch out for when avoiding the four enemy cars trying to paint the maze, and with random generated mazes and five different minigames the game never gets boring. Very nice use of the 16k here!
The game was made by Jonathan Cauldwell in 2005.
