Whirling Maelstrom is a new strand aspect released in season 22. Its very effective on its own turning destroyed tangles into enemy seeking wrecking balls but it can be improved much more using some of the artefact mods available to use right now. Alongside some exotic choices, subclass aspects/fragments and armor mods to make it the very best it can be.

The key components for this strand hunter build include:
Exotic Foetracer - Damaging an enemy with any strand ability (including whirling maelstrom) give strand weapons +25% damage. Enemies defeated by any strand weapons will drop a tangle.
Frenzied Stacks (Artefact mod) - Thrown projectiles deal increased damage depending on armor charge stacks. Stacks are not consumed by this mod either. A thrown tangle can deal 180% more damage at max stacks while Whirling Maelstrom can deal 75% damage at max stacks.
Monochromatic Maestro (Artefact mod) - Dealing damage with strand abilities gives strand weapons +10% damage. Dealing damage with strand weapons gives strand abilities +10% damage.
