Tutorial: How to backup/transfer GameCube saves.
You will need a method of booting homebrew. In this video I use Action Replay + the SDLOADER exploit to trick it into loading homebrew on an SD Adapter in slot A.
If you happen to have the Action Replay keyboard, you will find entering the 29 codes required to do this much easier. ;)
Google GameCube SDLOADER on how to use the Action Replay exploit. You must have an Action Replay v1.14 or older. The newer ones currently being sold on the Datel website no longer allow you to add custom codes. So it's a no go for that one. :(
Things you need:
1. Homebrew boot method for GameCube. Doesn't matter which, so long as you are able to boot DOL files.
2. SD Adapter for memory card slot. WiiKey or SD Gecko will work. So will SD Media Launcher adapter. But this part is REQUIRED.
3. SD Card. I would not recommend using an SDHC card. They won't work with the Action replay exploit. Swiss supports SDHC cards however, so if your boot methods uses that, then you can use the larger SD cards. I do not know if GCMM works with SDHC cards though, so you are on your own on that. This is required as well. You will need something to save the save files to obviously. The SD card I used in this video is one of those rare non-SDHC cards in the 4GB capacity. But I have personally confirmed that they will work with the Action Replay exploit. ;)
4. GCMM. This is the app that will transfer saves to/from a memory card in slot B.
5. A memory card that has your save files you want to backup/restore. (obviously)
This will allow you to copy a save from a memory card (even copy protected saves like with the Pokemon games!) to another memory card. You can even transfer them to/from Dolphin emulator via this method. But I will not show you how to do that in this video. :P
Google on how to import/export GCI files from Dolphin if you are interested in using your save files in Dolphin or if you saved a game in Dolphin and want to use it on the real GameCube.
Also, I am using a mod that makes Windows look like MacOS. Don't ask how I achieved this. It would be too complicated to explain. :P
Yes even the startup screen has the Apple logo. :D
If you are wondering on who that is on my desktop wallpaper, that's Hatsune Miku. Google her if you don't know her. :D
