In this tutorial i go over in detail the basics of maya fluids. This set of 3 goes over creating a basic smoke effect using a 2d fluid, it also teaches you how to emit from objects and make your fluid interact with geometry.
This is just a general overview hoever as it will explain alot of the things crucial to going off on your own and creating your own fluids !
