okay so explanation bc it’s pretty vague


the Fierce Deity and Majora were gods who created Termina, Majora ruling the sun and the Deity ruling the moon. From childhood, they were best friends and remained so even in adulthood, the Deity becoming more responsible and stoic while Majora stayed more childish as a result of ruling the sun/moon respectively.
one day, in an attempt to keep Demise at bay before Link was even born, Hylia asked for the Deity’s help as her knight/hero.
Majora was left to keep the day cycles going and rule over Termina, and it felt betrayed and backstabbed by the Deity.
Out of rage, it gave the moon a face and caused it to come crashing down in three days, the last of which the Deity would return from Hyrule.
Upon returning, the Deity found his old friend on the top of a clock tower as the Carnival of Time kicked off, the moon dangerously close. He rushed to the top, finding Majora floating in the air, rage consumed.

Causing the moon to accelerate in crashing, the Deity was forced to fight his friend, and ended up killing Majora.
Majora’s spirit went into the mask it treasured, and the Deity went to a shadow known as Ezra, begging them to heal his regrets and be sealed within a mask.

Both masks were kept under the watch of the shadows until a mysterious salesman somehow got his hands on Majora’s Mask.
