Keiichi Maebara is the new kid in a small town, and he's already made a tight-knit circle of friends. Despite their odd interests, the four other members of his after-school club are proud to count him among their number, and seem genuine in their compassion for the recent transfer.
But what does Keiichi know about his friends, really? When it comes to their families, it turns out, the answer is precious little. Siblings never mentioned, parents long-absent, strange powers of influence, and even dark revelations buried in Hinamizawa's founding--intentionally or not, they all have secrets to hide.
And when the demon at the heart of Hinamizawa finally awakens, will Keiichi be able to recognize it for what it truly represents? Or will he simply collapse in the face of one more unknowable mystery?
