In the past Ubisoft has tried to act like the cool kid. They thought they can keep their games exclusive to Ubisoft Connect (ex Uplay), that they can get away with no innovation, ever repeating concepts and sometimes even ripping off existing Battle Royale games like Ghost recon Frontline. And for the longest time it seemed like they got away with it. But now it backfires! Ubisoft is in serious financial trouble. The games they ported to Steam are getting bad reviews. Ubisoft is facing "surprisingly slower" sales, have cancelled three unannounced games (on top of the four cancelled in July), planning $200 million in cost reduction including "natural attrition" and "divesting of non-core assets". Now the Ubisoft stock price is plummeting and Yves Guillemot pushes the blame to their creatives and developers! When will Microsoft buy Ubisoft? They seem to be on discount right now!
