A British soldier killed on Remembrance Day in an insider attack in Afghanistan has been named as Captain Walter Reid Barrie from The Royal Scots Borderers, 1st Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland.

He was shot dead at close range by a member of the Afghan Army in Forward Operating Base Shawqat in the Nad-e Ali district of Helmand Province as he took part in a football match between British soldiers and members of the Afghan National Army.
