Ultimate DooM (1995) is the re-release of DooM (1993) with a tiny modification in the first mission of the first episode and an additional fourth episode which gave the game a better ending and a better premise for the events of DooM II. So, except for the first mission of first level, for the first three episodes, you'll get the same gameplay (and hence the same playthrough) as you would get in the original DooM. The continuity of the gameplay breaks after the end of each episode. So the second, third and the fourth episode will have a pistol start. The weapons and ammunition will not be carried over from the previous episodes.

This is the thirteenth part of the thirty six videos (fourth part of the nine videos for episode 2 - The Shores of Hell) of continuous playthrough of Ultimate DooM on Ultra-Violence (Hard) difficulty. Episode 2 Mission 4 (Deimos Lab) has been covered in this video with 100% kills, 100% secrets and 100% items. This is played through GZDoom source port and customized settings like crosshair, jump and crouch are enabled. These features are absent in original gameplay.

When DooM came out in 1993, it revolutionized PC gaming like no games did. It was the game which introduced the 3D graphics in video games with non-rectangular rooms to navigate and the sprites and textures which was optimal considering the technology at that time. Taking its inspirations from the movies like Army of Darkness (1992), The Evil Dead (1981), Die Hard (1988), Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986), the gameplay and thrills were received in an overwhelmingly positive way and required OS developers to make sure that their OS supported DooM . Development of the gaming engine was purely original and was the foundation for many advanced and better engines which came after the DooM engine. It revolutionized the whole PC gaming scenario and popularized the first person shooter genre. It spanned multiple sequels over the years. The popularity of DooM and DooM II led to the re-release of DooM as Ultimate DooM in 1995. These classic games are so popular that they are getting customized mods and level designs even to this date.
