The feeling of excitement never gets old when a new board game gets delivered at 1D6! We eagerly backed the Robinson Crusoe campaign on Gamefound back in March 2021, expecting its delivery by February 2022. However, after an additional two years of waiting, the game has finally made its way to us.

Our hopes were high for Robinson Crusoe: The Collector's Edition, yet sadly, the game didn't quite meet our expectations. At 1D6, we're fond of miniatures, but in this edition of Robinson Crusoe, they seem somewhat out of place. The oversized miniatures, particularly the characters, feel like an unnecessary addition. We find ourselves preferring the traditional wooden character discs over the miniatures. In our view, Portal Games focused on the wrong enhancements. The board could have benefited from an upgrade to better accommodate all the components, and the inclusion of a dice tower feels like more of a gimmick than a practical addition.

In its latest edition of Robinson Crusoe, Portal Games misses the mark, failing to deliver the classic in a deluxe version.
