- (Negatives)
- Linear Gameplay: Some players may find the game's linearity a drawback, as it doesn't allow for much exploration or open-world elements. It's more focused on guiding players through a predetermined path.
- Repetitive Combat: While the combat in Uncharted 3 can be exhilarating, it can also become repetitive, as players often face similar enemy encounters throughout the game.
- Unrealistic Climbing: Nathan Drake's ability to scale almost anything can sometimes feel unrealistic and can break immersion for some players.
- Occasional Pacing Issues: Some sections of the game may have pacing issues, with slower moments between action-packed sequences that could lead to occasional boredom.
- Quick-Time Events: Uncharted 3 incorporates quick-time events (QTEs) during certain moments, which can be polarizing, as some players enjoy them while others find them frustrating or interruptive.
- Limited Replayability: Once players complete the main story and collectibles, there may be limited incentive to revisit the game, as it lacks significant branching paths or alternate endings.
Overall, having played this in 2023...the trilogy didn't hold up nearly as well as I thought. I think a big part of it is just how limited the gameplay was at the time. It feels very arcade-y when it comes to movement and there were plenty of times when I died just because Drake jumped the wrong way, due to no fault of my own. Also, as much as I was playing for the story, the repetitive combat really becomes tiresome after the first hour or so.
Third time's a charm, right? For story, yes. Absolutely. But for gameplay that is watered down, repetitive and gunfighting that last far beyond it's welcoming time? Not so much.
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception Remastered - 8/10
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception Remastered on PS5 - 8.5/10 (Massively improved load times and lighting from the original)
For 2011, this game pushed narrative story-telling forward. But I still don't think this was Naughty Dog's best. And to whoever created the fight against the armored machine gun guy on the boat deserves to be fired lol.
A game good for it's time, but aging more as the years go on.
Enjoy guys!
