Made Man - Confessions of the Blood Family. Critics couldn't stand this budget PS2 game that was made in collaboration with a real life mob boss. Does it completely suck or is it maybe worth checking out? Is it a 2 / 10 like IGN says.? Or... is it UNDER RATED?

It's time to become a made man or die trying as you rise through the ranks of organized crime as mob recruit, Joey Verola. Experience his humble beginnings in 1971, as a truck driver selling cigarettes, when all hell breaks loose at a local diner. Jump into the jungles of Vietnam in 1968 where you'll recall traumatic PTSD flashbacks and also a uncover a scheme to smuggle gold back to the states in body bags. It's also time to get revenge in present day, 1989, as you track down a former friend who's gotten a tad bit too greedy.

Ever wonder what bad guys see moments before you blow them away with a shotgun? Well wonder no more because this game introduces the "Retort Kill" - an execution style fatality that you can perform on injured enemies. A innovative kill camera lets you experience the brutality from both points of view. Enjoying the view simply isn't enough so why don't you send your enemies to hell in style with some good old fashion trash talk. Sounds awesome right but wait there's more! Your reward for being such a bad ass? Full health recovery!

Shooting one gun at a time is common in most video games but come on that's for babies! It's time to embrace your inner Rambo and go dual wield crazy! Want to dual wield pistols? Shot guns? Assault Rifles? Mac 10s? Dual wield to your hearts content as every weapon in this game is dual wieldable except for the sniper rifle of course cause you know we gotta draw the line somewhere!

For a budget game that cost 20 dollars MSRP at launch, the developers sure didn't skimp on the music! The song Eye for an Eye by UNKLE which serves as the main menu music starts with one of the most awesome quotes ever from the movie, The Prophecy. Even now in heaven there were angels carrying savage weapons. This soundtrack is seriously loaded with amazing music! Enjoy period accurate hits such as You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet by Bachman Turner Overdrive, Vernon Jackson by the Brought Low, and last but not least - Nowhere to run by Martha Reeves. I can't show you any of the awesome songs due to copyright but check out this clip!

That's right! This game is 100% a third person shooter and nothing else. Want to jump, climb over boxes, solve puzzles, scale walls, or do cool Prince of Persia wall dashes? You won't find those here! Honestly all of that stuff just kinda drags down the action in my opinion. This game is all about the sweet sweet killing. The bullet time mechanic from Max Payne is here to mix things a tad bit if you get enough kills to build up your "kill rush" meter. Sadly, it's not quite all action all the time though as some claim as the action gets broken up between levels for story beats that are told Interview with the Vampire style.

The game definitely has some audio problems with the worst offender being the cutscenes. The volume for the cutscenes are much much lower than the rest of the game so you will have to constantly turn up and down the volume the entire game to hear what anybody is saying. Now this issue definitely sounds annoying but is it the end of the world? Surely not. A lot of critics also stated they found the game to be pretty buggy. While the game never crashed on me or anything, I did encounter some weird bugs that ended up being pretty hilarious.

Now I'm not one to really comment on graphics because I could care less about them but this issue was brought up in almost every review of the game. A lot of critics felt the game looked like an early PS2 or even PS1 title. While I don't exactly agree with them on that, if graphics are really a that big of an issue for you - there are plenty of ways that can be fixed nowadays. I actually found some of the graphics to be pretty impressive especially the levels filled with a large amount of breakable glass. The game also boasts some nice fire effects from exploding cars and the rain and effects in the Vietnam Jungle levels were pretty sweet too.
