Understanding of Pain by Digital Tender Point Testing
Layman Abstract : Digital Tender Point (TP) testing is one of the earliest methods used to measure pain sensitivity in patients. However, its use has been mostly limited to studies on Low Back Pain (LBP). This study explores whether TP testing (TP examination) should be more widely taught, practiced, and compared to other pain assessment methods in LBP patients to improve treatment.
The study also raises an important question for future research:
Would a questionnaire be a more practical alternative to Digital Tender Point Testing in everyday medical practice?
If so, which questionnaire would be better—the fibromyalgia survey or the Central Sensitization Inventory (CSI)?
The findings could help make pain management more effective by identifying the best approach for assessing pain sensitivity in LBP patients.
