Effect of Squeeze Parameters on Mechanical Properties During High Pressure Die Casting
Effect of Squeeze Parameters on Mechanical Properties During High-Pressure Die Casting
Layman's Abstract: High-pressure die casting (HPDC) is becoming more important in the automotive industry, especially with the rise of electric cars. As car parts become more complex, casting processes face new challenges. One solution to this problem is a technique called local squeezing, which helps prevent defects like shrinkage porosity (small holes in the material). Local squeezing is done when the mold starts to cool and solidify, and a squeeze pin is used to apply pressure. The timing of this squeeze pin is very important. If applied too early or late, it affects how well the metal solidifies and its final strength. Research showed that delaying the squeeze pin’s action and slowing down its speed leads to fewer defects and stronger parts, improving the material's quality significantly.
