[Undertale DDD OST] The Once Peaceful Days (Touhou Remix)
I decided to step down in terms of ambitious musical projects, and did a much simpler remix! This particular piece can be heard during the credits of Season 1.5.
For some reason, I seem to be remixing a lot of ZUN's old PC-98 songs. Probably because they're REALLY underrated. And they make for fine retro pieces that I can fit in Undertale. UNDERrated! Badum tss.
Hope you enjoy this short, simple and sweet musical project and... hopefully my next one will showcase a completely original composition! ...If I don't get the sudden inspiration to remix another song.

DDD Notes
[The Once Peaceful Days]
Based on these original compositions:
Peaceful ~ Good Ending - ZUN
Days ~ Bad Ending - ZUN
"Yea, I'm back to dual remixes once again. But this time the combination process was less awkward, because not only am I remixing two songs from the same game: Lotus Land Story, but they both happen to be two sides of the same coin! [Peaceful] is a Good Ending theme, and [Days] is a Bad Ending theme. And they really do sound well together... After a few key alterations here and there.
This project is probably my first somber kind of song. It isn't upbeat and happy, nor aggressive and action-oriented. The melody itself I found quite sad, and I simply masked it with an upbeat drum pattern to keep the flow moving. But even that slowly fades away. Story-wise, this plays during a Season 2 episode. Season 2 is a prequel to the Season 1 Genocide Route you know today. So knowing where Season 2 could lead to, it leaves a bittersweet premonition. And I thought this song would signify that pretty well. Looking back to what once was, and comparing it to now... Nothing will beat those Once Peaceful Days... Except perhaps a better ending.
This song was also therapeutic in a way. I can't help but continue to feel sad about how the Undertale community is slowly fading away. If DELTA was supposed to be a reminisce to the good old Undertale days, then this song is a lament. Not to mention that I've been feeling down, in general. As such I sat myself down, considered a good musical piece to use for my latest episode's credits, and just thrived on the somber aspects of the song, whilst keeping it rhythmic, so as to not overload the piece with emotion... Nah, that'll have a place much later. In any case, this is a song lamenting the *ahem* Once Peaceful Days. But now it's just... quiet. You'd think Quiet and Peaceful are synonymous... But no. I could only wish.
The instrumentation was quite interesting this time around. I was more forceful in combining synthetic and realistic instruments this time around. I use synths for the bass and droning background textures, and instruments - such as the flute, piano, strings & guitar, for the main melody. The realistic instruments - especially the flute and violins, forward this song's intimate emotions, whilst the synths forward this low-ended sense of darkness and somberness.
Overall, I think I'm getting better at this music making ting. Maybe one day I'll have the confidence to write something original... If I resist the urge to cringe at my attempts. I did try at some time ago... And let's just say I'll be sticking to remixes. But hey, I do see improvement. And as such, nothing will be impossible for me.
As for my journey in the Undertale DDD scene. I think this song also serves as my acceptance to the role I've found myself in: The Undertale DDD Man. For I shall see this project to its end, even if it takes me decades (I seriously hope not, but being an adult is hard). After all, I have a rough idea of the ENTIRE story... And boy, you have not seen ANYTHING yet. Genocide Asgore was the grand epic of Undertale DDD yea? I shall be laughing in a few years time. A good kind, don't worry. One that can finally vanquish the despair in my heart.
Until then, stay determined y'all.
