Another song featured in my latest Undertale DDD episode: Dawn Ever-Blue. This one will also play through parts in Undertale DDD Season 2. Specifically, in areas around Waterfall (Hence the name & motif.)

Hope you enjoy yet another orchestral piece! This piece in particular I'm quite fond of, because I was able to pull off quite a dark and emotional piece! And from my history... It's seldom heard or achieved. Usually its upbeat, action-orientated, or has too few moments of poignancy. There's no shortage of that here though!

Stay tuned for more orchestral pieces later down the line! And another song coming up - which was also featured in Dawn Ever-Blue!

DDD Notes
[One Dream, One Destiny ~ Waterfall]
Based on these original compositions:
One Dream, One Reality - Nihon Falcom
Waterfall - Toby Fox

"I suppose this counts as dialogue music for Season 2? Its use will be slightly more specialized. Mostly for lore & other important or dramatic events taking place in Waterfall.

This piece will be a very special treat for those who've played YS VIII Lacrimosa of Dana. What a beautiful and criminally underrated game. Sporting a very inspiring soundtrack imo. So much so that I HAD to remix one of their songs. And who would've thought that [One Dream, One Reality] and [Waterfall] could mesh so perfectly?! Seriously, it's like they were made for each other.

Given that this plays during somber, dramatic, and revelatory parts in Waterfall, naturally I gave it a nice Orchestral tone. There's more emphasis on the strings though. No woodwinds or brass to be found here. I attempted a version with a full orchestra, but I ultimately decided against it, because a focus on a smaller amount of instruments and strings brings out a sense of intimacy; the expressions on the instruments are better heard. I'm gonna save the big orchestra for something else...

Unlike [Destinies in Limbo], this piece has moments of build-up. Especially towards the end where there's a giant climax, falling to an abrupt, quiet end. In a way I wanted it to symbolize the retelling of the Great War between Monsters and Humans: There was a peace between the two races, that was teetering on the brink of an all-out war - with tensions rising. Then a war did ensue - with the Monsters massacred. And towards the end, I envisioned Asgore looking around at a wasted battlefield - with his fallen kin, and battered survivors. Soon to be cast into the abyss of Mount Ebott. And so... the tale is retold once again to Eanaro...

I spaced out the dramatic parts, because as I said before, continuously looped songs playing over dialogue - with especially energetic build-ups, can tend to tire out the listener (there are exceptions). But given the slow pacing, and intervals of low-energy. I'm sure the listener won't be too overwhelmed when listening on repeat (if this were implemented in a game like dialogue music though, I'd only have the first loop be the only loop that... well, loops. The second loop is quite much and would only be relegated to a separate area for listening - like sound tests, or OST videos-- wait...)

I'm happy I made something genuinely dramatic for once. This one's feels like something that'd play when a character recalls a very deep and grand history of their people, and how it didn't end well. And while I did write an orchestral piece for Gaster, that one focused more on his character and power - rather than the tales of his people at large.

Other than that, I can definitely see an improvement in my mixing, instrumental allocation, tuning etc. It feels like there's more impact with the drums, without having too much range between the louder and softer instruments. And there's a space for almost every important instrument to shine at a given time. I still gotta work on some areas, but this is a great step forward.

Hope you enjoy this piece! And stay tuned for a particular piano composition!"
