November 17th, 1941: By late November, Army Group South has made astonishing gains, but is also at the end of very tenuous supply lines, and is stretched across a front three times as long as when the campaign started. OKH, believing the Russians on the point of collapse, orders one last attack before winter, hoping to reach the oilfields of the Caucasus. The depleted German panzers find a hornet's nest at Rostov instead.
